Activist Fahmi Reza detained in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Activist Fahmi Reza has been arrested by the police, says his lawyer.

When contacted, lawyer Rajsurian Pillai said Fahmi was arrested at 10.20am on Friday (Dec 19) after he was summoned to Bukit Aman to provide a statement.

"The investigation is under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said.

It was reported that more than 50 police reports, including by more than 20 Johor assemblymen, had been lodged against Fahmi for allegedly insulting Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
