PM Anwar, Cabinet ministers congratulate Selangor Sultan on 80th birthday


KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended his congratulations to the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on the occasion of the Ruler’s 80th birthday on Thursday (Dec 11).

In his Facebook post, Anwar also prayed that Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, as well as the entire Selangor royal family, would be granted good health and lasting well-being.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also conveyed his congratulations to the Selangor in a Facebook post.

He said he prayed that Allah SWT grants the Sultan continued longevity in good health, happiness and prestige, and that His Royal Highness’ reign remains blessed with enduring grace, honour and wisdom.

Among the ministers to have posted their well-wishes on social media was Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who also prayed that His Royal Highness and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, and the entire Selangor Royal family will always be under the protection of Allah SWT.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said also prayed that His Royal Highness be granted long life and remain qarar (steadfast) on the throne of Selangor Darul Ehsan, with all glory and honour, and to be given guidance to continue protecting the people.

"I also pray that Their Royal Highnesses, their children and the entire Selangor Royal family will always be blessed with enduring health, divine grace and honour by Allah SWT," she said.

The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, and the staff of the religious affairs agency also prayed for His Royal Highness’ long life under the protection of Allah's blessings.

"In addition, may His Royal Highness be blessed with good health and well-being, be safeguarded by His mercy and care, and continue to be endowed with wisdom in guiding Selangor Darul Ehsan and its people with lasting justice and prosperity," he said.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad also conveyed his congratulations to Sultan Sharafuddin, and shared the prayers of all members of the Ministry of Health that His Royal Highness will always be blessed by Allah and kept under His protection.

"May Allah grant long life to Tuanku and bless His Royal Highness’ reign. Daulat, Tuanku," he posted on Facebook.

Earlier, Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin arrived for the Selangor State Honours and Awards Investiture Ceremony held in conjunction with the Sultan’s 80th Official Birthday at the Balairung Seri, Istana Alam Shah in Klang.

They were accompanied by Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah and his consort Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz.

In conjunction with the 80th birthday of the Selangor Sultan, 98 individuals were also conferred state awards and honours, in an investiture ceremony at Istana Alam Shah on Thursday. - Bernama
