Mother, son arrested for alleged abuse of domestic helper in Gombak

KUALA LUMPUR: A mother and her adult son have been arrested in connection with alleged abuse against a local domestic helper.

Gombak district police chief Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir, when contacted, said that the suspect has been remanded for four days, starting Monday (Dec 8).

Investigations are currently underway to determine how long and in what ways the victims were abused by the suspect.

"The victim is in a stable condition. The victim also had injuries on several parts of her body and burn marks on her hand.

"She also had been working for the employer's house since Sept this year," he said.

Police investigations revealed that the victim had not been paid. She has been placed in a shelter while the investigations continue.

On Dec 6, the victim fled a home and sought help from neighbours after allegedly being abused by her employer.
