Authorities keep close watch on Kulai flood-prone areas

KULAI: Four flood-prone areas here were monitored in anticipation of flooding following continuous rain that started at noon on Thursday (Dec 4) until around 6pm.

Kulai Fire and Rescue station assistant chief Mohd Roizani Rosdi said the operation monitoring the flood situation was conducted from 4pm to 6pm.

“We are closely monitoring the four flood hotspots in the district,’’ he said in a post on Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia Negeri Johor’s Facebook Page.

Mohd Rozaini said the flood hotspots were Kampung Baru Sengkang, Kampung Rahmat, Kampung Sungai Siam and Kampung Murni Jaya.

Mohd Rozaini said observations on the hotspots found that all areas were under control.

“The water level of Sungai Siam was also found to be below the danger level, thus not posing an immediate threat to residents,’ he added.

Mohd Rozaini said they also advised residents in the areas to be vigilant and well-prepared in case the water level started to rise due to the unpredictable weather.

“Although the situation was safe as of 6pm Thursday, we will continue to monitor conditions from time to time,’’ said Mohd Rozaini.

He said today’s operation involved a high officer II, a senior officer II, two officers and an auxiliary officer and utilised the J1-54 Fire Rapid Tender (FRT) vehicle.
