PETALING JAYA: Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC), was recognised for its smart healthcare initiatives by winning the Technology and Innovation Excellence Award at the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) Business Excellence Awards 2025.
The award is presented to an organisation that has successfully sought new solutions with the help of the application of digital, innovative, or disruptive technologies, most specifically in the last three years.
This recognition highlights the hospital’s continuous efforts in pioneering digital advancements to enhance its clinical and operational efficiency, supporting Malaysia’s move towards digital healthcare.
Sunway Medical Centre (Sunway City) chief executive officer Dr Seow Vei Ken said, “We are extremely honoured to receive the Technology and Innovation Excellence Award.
“Our approach is to bring in new cutting-edge technologies and digitalise our healthcare services throughout the years, elevating patient experience, improving operational efficiency and enhancing the working environment for our clinical team.

SMC has consistently introduced various technologies and innovations, including robotics, precision medicine and automation. It has further accelerated efforts for digitalisation and AI integration into its operations.
This recognition is further underscored by SMC's recent achievement in Newsweek's World's Best Smart Hospitals 2026 ranking, where it emerged as one of the world’s top 350 hospitals and number one hospital in Malaysia.
Launched in 2018, the BMCC Business Excellence Awards commemorate the long-standing commercial ties shared between the United Kingdom (UK) and Malaysia. It recognises and honours the best of UK and Malaysian businesses across a range of award categories.
