MAHB chief aviation officer Megat Ardian to be appointed new AirBorneo CEO

KUCHING: Sarawak's new state-owned airline AirBorneo will appoint Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB) chief aviation and strategy officer Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin as its chief executive officer.

Sarawak state secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki confirmed the appointment.

"He will report for duty on Jan 1, 2026. We have agreed to appoint him as AirBorneo's CEO," he told reporters when met at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly on Friday (Nov 28).

It was reported earlier this week that Megat Ardian was set to become the state carrier's CEO.

He was reportedly viewed as the right person to lead the airline, backed by his decades of experience in the aviation sector.

AirBorneo is set to be launched as a regional airline once the state government completes the acquisition of MASwings Sdn Bhd from Malaysia Aviation Group.

The state government formalised the takeover through a sale-purchase agreement in February this year.
