Number of flood evacuees in Perak rises to 5,689


IPOH: The number of flood evacuees in Perak continues to rise, reaching 5,689 people at 2pm, up from 5,619 at noon on Thursday (Nov 27).

A state disaster management committee spokesman said 1,749 affected families are currently staying at temporary relief centres across seven districts.

At present, 45 relief centres are operating in Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Kuala Kangsar, Hilir Perak, and Muallim.

Manjung records the highest number of evacuees, with 2,098 individuals from 641 families housed at 17 relief centres.

Perak Tengah follows with 1,393 individuals from 398 families across 10 centres.

In Hilir Perak, 1,197 individuals from 368 families have been placed in nine centres, while Bagan Datuk has 706 individuals from 238 families in four centres.

Larut, Matang and Selama have 145 individuals from 51 families at three centres. In Muallim, 79 individuals from 17 families are in one centre and 71 individuals from 36 families are at a centre in Kuala Kangsar.
