Floods: Over 5,600 victims evacuated in Perak, 46 relief centres activated


IPOH: The number of flood victims in Perak has reached 5,620 as of 8am on Thursday (Nov 27) morning.

A state disaster management committee spokesman said 1,746 affected families are staying at temporary relief centres across eight districts.

Currently, 46 relief centres are operating in Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Kuala Kangsar, Batang Padang, Hilir Perak, and Muallim.

Manjung has the highest number of evacuees, with 2,081 individuals from 638 families at 16 relief centres.

Perak Tengah follows with 1,381 individuals from 395 families across 10 centres.

In Hilir Perak, 1,055 individuals from 332 families have been placed in nine centres, while Bagan Datuk has 762 individuals from 261 families in four centres.

Larut, Matang and Selama have 168 individuals from 55 families at three centres. In Muallim, 96 individuals from 25 families are at two centres and 74 individuals from 39 families are at a centre in Kuala Kangsar.

There were no changes in Batang Padang, with three individuals from one family at one centre.
