Body of Taiwanese influencer claimed by family; Namewee’s bail extended


KUALA LUMPUR: The body of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yun Hsi has been claimed by her family members, confirmed Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus.

"I confirm that Hsieh's body has been claimed by her family members," he said when contacted on Thursday (Nov 27).

Previously, Comm Fadil stated that the bail period for local rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, has been extended for two weeks.

"The period had been extended today at 4pm for 14 days from Nov 27 until Dec 10. The police are still waiting on the full post-mortem and toxicology report," he said.

Namewee was previously detained by police in connection with the death of Hsieh. Investigations revealed that Namewee was the last person seen with the 31-year-old Hsieh in a hotel room at about 1.40pm on Oct 22.

He was later arrested for alleged possession and use of drugs but was released after pleading not guilty to drug-related charges at the Jalan Duta Court on Oct 24.
