Barisan pledges to prioritise welfare of women, children, and families in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The welfare and rights of women, children, and families will be a top priority for Barisan Nasional if given the mandate in this Saturday’s Sabah state election, says Datuk Suhaimi Nasir.

The Sabah Barisan Information chief and Sungai Sibuga candidate emphasised that women are the backbone of families and communities and must be provided with greater opportunities for economic and social development.

"They must be given their well-deserved recognition because we cannot deny that women play important roles in the development of a state and nation," he said.

Suhaimi highlighted that inclusivity is key to building a competitive government, with children and families also central to this vision.

He said Barisan has planned various initiatives to support this goal, including i-Suri, development and training programmes, as well as technology-based skill training, to empower women and families to contribute more effectively to society.

He added that the creation of a dedicated ministry is being considered to further revolutionise women’s participation in society.

Suhaimi believes that through such initiatives, Sabah can become a more inclusive, progressive, and competitive state, bringing about meaningful social transformation for all.
