KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional’s choice for the Sabah Chief Minister’s post will only be decided after the state election if the coalition wins, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Barisan national chairman stated that the matter could only be discussed further following a win, with priority given to the party’s organisational hierarchy and in consultation with component parties.
"This decision would also be made after further negotiations with other component parties," Ahmad Zahid said after launching the Sabah Barisan election manifesto on Saturday (Nov 22).
On persistent opposition attacks during the campaign, Ahmad Zahid said such tactics would not dampen Barisan’s resolve, physically or spiritually.
He acknowledged that the party must work hard to win contested seats, noting the strong opposition machinery targeting Umno.
Despite the challenges, Ahmad Zahid remains optimistic about the possibility of a "blue wave" in Sabah, citing Barisan’s track record of development and progress when it was in government.
He also noted that Barisan and Pakatan Harapan were cooperating well to support each other’s candidates.
