MIH conference to put Malaysia forward as regional health hub, says Dzulkefly

KUALA LUMPUR: The three-day Malaysia International Health (MIH) Megatrends 2025 Conference starting Tuesday (Nov 25) will elevate Malaysia as a regional health hub in an effort to achieve better health sustainability in the future, says Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

The Health Minister said the conference themed "Innovation for a Sustainable Health Future" held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre would showcase healthcare technology and innovations in the country.

He said the conference would not only elevate Malaysia's name at the regional level, but also at the global level in terms of healthcare.

"The conference will focus on specific challenges in the health sector, including measures to address the non-communicable disease (NCD) pandemic, the need for digitalisation to carry out various innovations and issues of an ageing society," he said in Bernama TV's Ruang Bicara programme Thursday (Nov 20).

MIH Megatrends 2025, which will take place on Nov 25, is being held in strategic collaboration between the Health Ministry and KPJ Healthcare Bhd, reflecting Malaysia's strategic direction as the Asean Chairmanship 2025.

The conference will bring together global thought leaders, healthcare policymakers, doctors, innovators and industry experts who will exchange ideas and explore scalable solutions in areas such as value-based care, artificial intelligence, mental health, and sustainability in healthcare.

Meanwhile, Dzulkefly said Malaysia will face various health challenges, especially chronic diseases, if the health system is not improved as 15% of citizens will be aged 60 and above by 2030.

"The ageing population brings various health implications and if they are not prepared to be healthy at a younger age, then the twilight years, the age of 60 and above, will be a very challenging one in terms of maintaining health," he said. - Bernama
