PETALING JAYA: A new pair giant pandas from China, Chen Xing and Xiao Yue, have landed safely at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 8.30pm on Tuesday (Nov 18).

Chen Xing and Xiao Yue are set for a 10-year stay at Zoo Negara following the extension of the panda conservation agreement between Malaysia and China.

In a statement, the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry said the arrival of the pandas marked a symbol of the integrity and lingering friendship between the two countries.

Upon their arrival in the country, the pair were taken to the Giant Panda Conservation Centre at Zoo Negara, where they will undergo a mandatory month-long quarantine period before they are shown to the general public.
