Two undocumented foreigners ordered to enter defence for drug-trafficking charges


SEREMBAN: Two undocumented foreigners have been ordered by the High Court here to enter their defence on two charges of trafficking dangerous drugs.

Judge Rohani Ismail said the prosecution has succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against Indonesians Zulkarnaini Baharudin, 41 and Aris Munansar Muklis, 30.

The duo were charged with two counts of trafficking 4,988.4g of cannabis and 1,737.4g of methamphetamine.

They were charged with committing the offences at the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital public car park at around 8.30pm on April 11, 2022.

The accused were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which is punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same legislation and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.

Offenders can be sentenced to death or jailed between 30 and 40 years and whipped upon conviction.

The court then fixed Nov 20 and 21 for trial.
