Sultan Nazrin confers state awards, medals on 30 recipients

KUALA KANGSAR: Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah on Sunday (Nov 9) conferred state awards and medals on 30 recipients at Istana Iskandariah here in conjunction with the ruler’s 69th birthday celebration.

His Royal Highness was accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim at the investiture ceremony.

Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, Raja Di Hilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah and Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah were also in attendance.

Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin.

Sunday’s recipients were among the 238 individuals awarded state awards and medals in conjunction with Sultan Nazrin’s birthday celebration, which was observed on Nov 7.

Heading the list of honourees on Sunday was Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, who was conferred the Darjah Datuk Seri Cura Si Manja Kini (SPCM), which carries the title Datuk Seri.

Sultan Nazrin also conferred the Darjah Datuk Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP), which carries the title Datuk Seri, to Perak State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid, Solicitor-General II Datuk Umar Saifuddin Jaafar and Orang Besar Empat Negeri Perak Datuk Dr Syed Jaafar Syed Aznan.

Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar and Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail received the Darjah Datuk Seri Panglima Taming Sari (SPTS), which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima.

Public Works Department director-general Datuk Seri Ir Roslan Ismail received the Darjah Datuk Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (DPCM), which carries the title Datuk.

Seventeen individuals received the Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP), which carries the title Datuk, including state Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and National Integration Committee chairman A. Sivanesan and State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah.

Others awarded DPMP were state Health director Dr Feisul Idzwan Mustapha, Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon, Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Jana Santhiran Muniayan and Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry deputy secretary-general (Trade) Mastura Ahmad Mustafa.

Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute director and former Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Roslan Ariffin also received the DPMP.

Sultan Nazrin also conferred the Darjah Datuk Pahlawan Taming Sari (DPTS), which carries the title Datuk Pahlawan, to six recipients, including Defence Engineering Services Division director-general Brigadier General Fazillah Ibrahim and Senior Private Secretary to the Sultan of Perak, Brigadier General Norzahari Efandy Zakaria.

Earlier, Sultan Nazrin and Tuanku Zara attended the Guard of Honour ceremony, which began with the Royal Salute, followed by the rendition of the state anthem and a 21-gun salute by the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment (Ceremonial), before Sultan Nazrin inspected the guard.

This year’s investiture ceremony is being held in two sessions - the first today and the second scheduled for Nov 15. - Bernama
