Single mother claims she was molested by man she befriended on social media

KLUANG: A single mother from Johor claims that she was molested by an unemployed man she had befriended through social media.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident took place around 2pm on Tuesday (Nov 4) while the woman, in her late 40, was in her car with the suspect.

“The suspect, aged 49, allegedly outraged her modesty at two separate locations in Kluang town.

“The victim lodged a police report two days later, claiming that she had been molested by the man she got to know through social media about a month ago,” he said in a statement on Friday (Nov 7).

Police swiftly arrested the suspect hours later at Jalan Seladang 16 in Taman Mewah, Kulai.

ACP Bahrin stated that the suspect has no prior criminal record, and his urine test results came back negative for drugs.

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to outrage a person’s modesty, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

The suspect has been remanded for four days until Sunday (Nov 9) to assist in investigations.
