KOTA KINABALU: A man has been arrested for allegedly threatening a woman who scolded him for breaking into her house to ask for food.
The 35-year-old foreign labourer reportedly entered the woman’s house uninvited in Kampung Serudong Laut, Tawau on Wednesday.
Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said the man became angry after he was scolded and allegedly threatened to harm the woman and her child.
Fearing for their safety, the woman lodged a report at the Wallace Bay police station.
“The man was nabbed and a knife believed to be linked to the case was also seized,” he said in a statement.
ACP Jasmin said the man is being investigated for criminal intimidation, as well as the Immigration Act.
Meanwhile, wildlife officials are on the hunt for a huge crocodile after it was sighted at the Mengkabong River off Tuaran.
A Sabah Wildlife Department (SWD) officer said they received a report about the matter on Wednesday, and a team was immediately deployed to the location.
However, the reptile was nowhere to be seen when they arrived.
As dusk fell, the team had to return to shore for safety, said the officer, adding that SWD officials are setting up traps in the area.
The Mengkabong River is part of a sunset river cruise route.
Among the attractions, visitors can enjoy the river view while catching the sunset, sightsee mangroves, watch fireflies, and catch crabs and fish.
Tour operators and villagers have been advised to exercise caution.
