Rubber tapper pleads guilty to slashing man


KOTA BARU: A rubber tapper pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court here today to a charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a man by slashing the victim with a machete.

Noradin Ibrahim, 54, made the plea before Judge Zulkifli Abllah.

He was charged with causing serious injury to Ahmad Firhan Hadi Hamzah, 44, by slashing the victim with a machete at a house in Kampung Kulim, Pasir Puteh, at about 6pm on Oct 28.

The charge, under Section 326 of the Penal Code, provides a prison sentence of up to 20 years and can be fined or whipped if convicted.

Judge Zulkifli, in not allowing bail to the accused, set Dec 3 for mention for the sentencing proceedings.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nursyafiqah Mohamad, while Noradin was unrepresented. - Bernama
