Team IOI gathered for a group photo with the children and caretakers of Shepherd’s Centre Foundation during the IOIPG Foundation Deepavali Wish Tree event.

PETALING JAYA: IOIPG Foundation, the charity arm of IOI Properties Group (IOIPG), held the IOIPG Foundation Deepavali Wish Tree Event at Shepherd’s Centre Foundation (SCF) located in Semenyih recently.

The visit by Team IOI, driven by their spirit of employee volunteerism, was organised in conjunction with the festive Deepavali season.

The gifts from Team IOI and members of the public and contributions from IOIPG Foundation, amounted to approximately RM11,400, benefitting 30 children, consisting of 20 boys and 10 girls aged between eight and 25, sheltered at Shepherd’s Centre Foundation, as well as their 12 caretakers.

IOI Properties Group’s corporate communication head Kim Teoh, officiated the event by emphasising the power of education to transform the children’s futures.

She highlighted the company’s commitment: “We believe that caring for our communities in need and helping others is one of the most important things that we do.

“This spirit of giving is a core value for our entire team – and seeing the smiles on all your faces today makes it all worthwhile every time, and it makes us proud to be here with you today.”

Teoh reinforced IOIPG Foundation’s commitment, stating, “We are dedicated to making a difference here.

“That is why the IOIPG Foundation is committing to two years of assistance for Shepherd’s Centre Foundation before we extend this crucial support to other neighbouring communities.”

After the opening remarks, the festivities continued with planned games, providing the children with much entertainment.

However, the true highlight was the personal engagement, as volunteer members from Team IOI’s Support Units, Business Units, and other departments connected with the children, sharing moments of joy and laughter.

Additionally, the Group’s Palm Garden Golf Club team contributed to providing a hearty lunch served to the children.

The event culminated in the highly anticipated Duit Deepavali and Wish Tree Gift presentation, fulfilling the children's wishes provided to Team IOI. Gifts, including educational items, sports apparel and toys that sparked pure joy, were distributed to bring smiles to their faces and tangibly support their academic and personal growth.

"This initiative reflects IOIPG's deep-rooted belief in the power of education to transform lives. Through the IOIPG Foundation, we are dedicated to continuing our late founder’s legacy by empowering youth and fostering a spirit of giving within our community."
