BAS.MY monthly bus pass price lowered to RM30

JOHOR BARU: Bus commuters will now pay less for a monthly bus pass that provides unlimited rides at the price of RM30, says Anthony Loke.

The Transport Minister said the reduced rate from RM50 takes effect immediately and applies wherever BAS.MY services operate, as well as other states operating the stage bus transformation programme (SBST) service.

“With this reduction, the cost of travelling by BAS.MY is only RM1 a day, or 50 sen for a return trip to any destination served by the service.

“I hope the lower price will encourage more people to subscribe to the monthly pass and take public transportation,” he said at the launch of the initiative at a mall in Taman Sutera Utama here on Monday (Nov 3).

The monthly pass was first introduced in August 2023 at RM50.

An initiative under the Transport Ministry, it offers unlimited rides across all routes under the initiative for 30 days and is available to Malaysians only.

Loke said the initiative was part of the government’s effort to provide affordable public transport and support daily commuters, especially the workforce.

“The RM30 pass will remain in place permanently and must be renewed monthly.

“Senior citizens, students and persons with disabilities do not have to pay for BAS.MY rides but must apply for concession passes,” he added.

Loke said there is a rising demand for the bus service in Johor Baru, which currently serves more than 30,000 daily passengers, or over 900,000 monthly riders.

He said three new routes have been added to the bus service in Johor Baru, bringing the total to 21 from the previous 18 routes, covering areas in Johor Baru, Iskandar Puteri, Pasir Gudang, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Pontian.

“With more buses and routes added, we expect ridership to exceed one million monthly,” he said,
