Timor-Leste PM Gusmao hands out sweets to media at Asean Summit

KUALA LUMPUR: Sweets are always somehow in Timor-Leste’s Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao’s pockets as he once again stopped to give them to media personnel covering the Asean Summit.

Upon leaving the Asean Plus Three Summit earlier Monday (Oct 26), the Timor-Leste Prime Minister headed towards the media crowd to pass the sweets.

"For you, you and you," said a jovial Gusmao as he handed them over on the sidelines.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was next to Gusmao, then cheekily asked why the sweets were only given to the female personnel.

Gusmao responded by playfully pointing to the male media personnel who had received the sweets.

The Timor-Leste Prime Minister is known to be exceptionally friendly with the press, as he had also given them sweets during the 46th Asean Summit and Related Summits held in Kuala Lumpur earlier this year.
