Police tighten security at Ampang Park to block rallies on Sunday


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have imposed strict security at Ampang Park and surrounding areas to block any rally or gathering on Sunday (Oct 26).

Checks revealed heavy police presence on routes to the location, with strict checks on road users as of 8.30am.

Units deployed include the Motorcycle Patrol Unit and the drone unit.

On Saturday (Oct 25), Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said police will block any attempt to hold a rally at Ampang Park.

He said the decision is due to security considerations as Ampang Park is near the InterContinental Hotel and routes to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

It is learnt a rally was planned at Ampang Park on Sunday to protest the attendance of United States President Donald Trump at the summit.
