KUALA LUMPUR: The Cabinet is set to make a major decision today on issues of safety and discipline involving school students, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister said a firm and decisive stand must be reached following the recent spate of alarming incidents at schools, including the recent cases of stabbing and sexual misconduct.
Anwar said he had discussed the matter briefly with his ministers.
“We will discuss (the matter) in detail in Cabinet meeting.
“I held a short discussion with ministers, tomorrow we will make a decision,” he said.
Anwar was asked on educational reforms to be made following several reports of rape, murder and bullying in schools.
On Oct 14, a female student of SMK Bandar Utama 4 died after she was allegedly stabbed by a male student.
Yesterday, four teenagers, including three students, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a girl and distributing pornographic material on social media.
On Oct 11, a female Form Three student at a secondary school in Alor Gajah, Melaka, was reported to have been raped by two senior students, while two others were believed to have witnessed and recorded the crime.
