Cops say love triangle led to Alor Gajah murder-suicide

MELAKA: An alleged love triangle involving an Indonesian woman and two Bangladeshi men is believed to have led to a brutal murder-suicide at a rented house in Taman Cempaka 2, Durian Tunggal in Alor Gajah here.

Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said investigations revealed that the incident, which occurred around 7pm on Tuesday (Oct 14) came to light when another housemate discovered the bodies of the two men inside the house.

He said the 42-year-old victim was found lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen, while the 31-year-old suspect was found dead in a locked room.

“Initial investigations suggest that the motive stemmed from jealousy after the suspect learned that his Indonesian wife was allegedly having an affair with the victim.

"A check at the scene found 21 stab and slash wounds to the victim’s head and body.

“Police also seized a machete and two knives believed to have been used in the incident,” he said here on Wednesday (Oct 15)

DCP Dzulkhairi added that there were no signs of forced entry or a struggle involving outsiders, ruling out the possibility of third-party involvement.

He said further investigations revealed that the suspect’s wife had fled with their child about two weeks before the incident, which may have caused him emotional distress leading up to the tragedy.

“The suspect is believed to have been working in the country for nearly six years with a contracting company.

"At the time of the incident, only the two of them were at home, while another housemate was away at work,” he said.
