Budget 2026: Armed Forces to focus on prudent spending, support 'Future Force' concept

PETALING JAYA: The Armed Forces will focus on prudent spending and support the "Future Force" concept, says Jeneral Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar.

The Armed Forces Chief said this following the announcement of the Budget 2026, which he said was progressive.

"We are grateful for the government’s continued trust and support, which reflects the nation’s commitment to strengthening defence and security.

"The welfare of personnel remains a top priority to maintain morale and sustainability within the force.

"It is essential to boost determination and preparedness in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 10).

He said the Armed Forces would also ensure that the objectives outlined by the government in Budget 2026 are fully achieved.

"These include strengthening border security, enhancing international defence cooperation and preserving Malaysia’s sovereignty," he said.

The Defence Ministry was allocated RM21.7bil.
