SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Department will run a five-month programme to rehabilitate individuals who were formerly associated with Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB).
Its director, Mohd Asri Abdullah, said 33 heads of families would be involved in the programme, which would be held during weekends from Oct 11 until March next year.
"We had a briefing for 169 former members today, which included teenagers and children.
"The family heads will be among others required to attend classes in line with the teachings and tenets of Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaah," he said in a statement on Monday (Oct 6).
Mohd Asri said that to ensure the programme's success, the department would be collaborating with the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim), the state's National Security Council, the Welfare Department, and the police.
In October last year, the Negri Sembilan Fatwa Committee declared the teachings and beliefs of GISBH similar to those of Al-Arqam, which was declared deviant in 2016.
