Elderly couple found dead in Ipoh house


IPOH: An elderly couple, both aged 78, were found dead at home in Desa Lang Indah here on Thursday (Oct 2) morning.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said police received a call at about 9am stating that two people were found unconscious in the house.

He said police found the naked body of the man behind the main door while his wife was found in the bedroom downstairs," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 3).

ACP Abang Zainal said the man did not suffer from any serious illnesses, while the woman was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease five years ago.

He said there were no signs of a struggle, forced entry or foul play.

"The deaths were confirmed by a medical officer from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital at 9.45am," he said.

A post-mortem carried out revealed that the man died of chronic obstructive airway disease with infection, while the wife died due to frailty associated with age and a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs).

He added that the deaths have been classified as sudden death.
