US Embassy in KL suspends regular Facebook updates amid funding lapse

PETALING JAYA: The United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has announced that its Facebook account will not be updated regularly due to a lapse in government appropriations.

In a statement on its official Facebook page, the embassy said only urgent safety and security information will be posted until full operations resume.

"At this time, scheduled passport and visa services in the United States and at US Embassies and Consulates overseas will continue during the lapse in appropriations as the situation permits," it said.

The embassy added that updates on its social media channels would be limited, and normal postings would only resume once the government is fully operational again.

For information on services and operating status, the public has been advised to visit travel.state.gov.
