14-year-old busted for reckless motorcycle stunt on viral video

NIBONG TEBAL: Police detain a 14-year-old student after a video of him performing dangerous motorcycle stunts on the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge went viral on social media.

South Seberang Perai OCPD Supt Jay January Siowou said the teenager, who was seen performing the “Superman stunt” while riding his motorcycle from Batu Maung to Batu Kawan, surrendered himself at the South Seberang Perai police headquarters at about 10.30pm on Sept 30.

"The suspect was arrested and police confiscated his motorcycle," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 1).

Supt Jay said the boy tested negative for drugs.

He said several other motorcyclists believed to be involved in the incident are still being tracked down.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous riding.

Supt Jay reminded the public that reckless riding was a serious offence and warned that no compromise would be made with those who endanger the safety of road users.
