KUALA LUMPUR: Leading property developer LBS Bina Group Berhad’s (LBS) group executive chairman Tan Sri Ir Dr Lim Hock San delivered his keynote address at the Now and Future Conference and Exhibition 2025 today.

The conference, themed “A Better Future” is held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from Sept 17 to 20. This premier conference and exhibition was organised in conjunction with the 46th Asean Inter-Parliamentary General Assembly (AIPA Malaysia 2025).

Delivering his keynote address entitled Building the Business of Tomorrow, Lim highlighted Asean’s transformation into one of the world’s fastest-growing economic blocs, with a combined GDP surpassing US$4 trillion in 2024. He emphasised that Asean’s strength lies not only in its economic dynamism but also in its diversity, resilience and unity.

He also stressed that the business of tomorrow requires balancing economic progress with social inclusivity, cultural exchange and sustainability. He then highlighted LBS’ commitment to these principles through its initiatives in affordable housing, renewable energy and community-focused development, which aligns closely with Asean’s broader priorities.

“As we build the business of tomorrow, our focus must extend beyond profits. We must champion inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation while strengthening regional cooperation,” said Lim.

By underscoring Malaysia’s role as a bridge within Asean, he noted the importance of diplomacy, people-to-people connections and cultural understanding as essential pillars for long-term growth and stability.

Lim also showcased LBS’ alignment with Asean’s development priorities through its “8 x 8 Strategy”, featuring initiatives such as the issuance of the RM200mil Asean Social SRI Sukuk Wakalah to fund affordable housing, renewable energy investments including a RM104mil solar farm and sustainable township developments across Malaysia.

Expressing his appreciation for the invitation, Lim remarked: “The conference provides an important avenue to share perspectives from the property development sector and highlight how our industry contributes to national and regional economic growth.

“Property development is more than just building homes; it is about creating sustainable communities, stimulating industries, generating employment and enabling upward social mobility.

“These contributions form the backbone of a resilient economy and are integral to Asean’s long-term progress.”

Among the notable speakers at the Now and Future Conference and Exhibition 2025 were the Malaysia Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim; Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Sri Fadillah Yusof and several Cabinet ministers, including Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Datuk Sri Tiong King Sing, and Datuk Ewon Benedick.

They addressed delegates on strengthening Asean’s unity and growth.

Today, the conference’s second day, saw the Prime Minister visiting LBS’ booth, which features its subsidiary, MGB Berhad’s latest developments and projects, which reflects LBS’ role in driving Malaysia’s economic and social progress.

The Now and Future Conference and Exhibition 2025 was brought together by parliamentarians, policymakers and business leaders from across South-East Asia, alongside distinguished guests from Asean member states.

The conference reaffirmed its role as a vital platform for dialogue, cooperation and partnership in shaping a better and more sustainable future for the region.
