HULU LANGAT: Several areas in Hulu Langat, Selangor, were affected by flash floods following continuous heavy rain since Sunday night, disrupting main roads and residential areas.

Affected areas include Batu 16, Batu 18, Kampung Sungai Lui and Sungai Pangsun.

Several houses near the main roads were flooded. Some parked vehicles were also submerged.

Residents told Sinar Harian that the water level began to rise from the Langat River at around 4.30am, causing some of the roads in the area to be submerged within a short period.

Locals also shared footage of the rising water levels.

Floods eased later in the afternoon with clean-up operations in progress.

Dusun Tua assemblyman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz said the worst affected areas were Dusun Tua, Batu 16, Batu 18 and Sungai Serai.

“Our focus now is to help residents clean their homes,” he was quoted as saying.
