One killed, four hurt in Bintulu crash

BINTULU: One person was killed and four others injured in a two-vehicle collision at Pantai Tanjung Batu heading towards Pantai ABF, Kidurong, on Sunday (Sept 14) night.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department Sarawak operations centre, a team from the Bintulu fire station was sent to the scene after receiving a call at 7.41pm.

On arrival, the team found Ansam Maja, 39,  trapped and unconscious in the driver’s seat of a car.

The rescue team removed the victim from the wreckage and he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel who then handed the body to police for further action, a department spokesman said in a statement on Monday (Sept 15).

"Meanwhile, the four victims in the other vehicle, a pickup truck, were helped out of their vehicle by passers-by before the fire team arrived.

"They sustained head and leg injuries,” the spokesman added. – Bernama
