Ambulance crashes into van in Kinabatangan, one dead and 11 injured


KOTA KINABALU: One person was killed while 11 others were seriously injured after an ambulance collided head-on with a van along Jalan Paris 2 in Kinabatangan on Monday (Sept 15).

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement Monday (Sept that they received a call at 10.25am.)

A team of five firefighters from the Kinabatangan station was then dispatched to the scene.

Operations commander Mohd Nor Azmer Mat Shor Nasir said a total of 12 people were involved, four from the ambulance and eight from the van.

“One passenger in the ambulance was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel, while the other 11 victims sustained serious injuries,” he said.

All victims were extricated by the firemen and handed over to medical teams for treatment.

The rescue operation concluded at 11.50am after the site was declared safe.
