Negri cops raid three illegal lottery call centres, 16 nabbed

SEREMBAN: Police have conducted raids on three locations operating as illegal online lottery call centres in Port Dickson and arrested 16 suspects, including 14 Chinese nationals.

Negri Sembilan police chief Dep Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the suspects, aged from 25 to 58, were arrested during a special operation on Sept 8.

"The suspects were detained in a two-hour operation carried out at three houses.

"Suspects are believed to have lured their victims, mostly Chinese nationals, via social media," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 10).

DCP Alzafny said police seized items worth some RM35,000, including 26 mobile phones and nine laptops.

The case is being probed under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, read together with Section 120B of the same legislation.
