Zahid extends condolences to families of students killed in Tuaran crash


KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his condolences to the families of five Kota Kinabalu MARA Skills Institute (IKM) students killed in a road accident at Jalan Sulaman in Tuaran, Sabah on Friday (Sept 5).

The Rural and Regional Development Minister said his political secretary, Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, had met the victims’ families on his behalf to convey condolences and provide immediate assistance to help ease their burden during this difficult time.

Also present were Karambunai assemblyman Datuk Yakubah Khan and UMNO division leaders.

"I am deeply saddened to receive the news of the tragic accident at Jalan Sulaman, Tuaran, Sabah, which claimed the lives of five Kota Kinabalu IKM students this afternoon.

"I pray that the families of the victims will be granted fortitude and strength in facing this great trial,” he said in a post on X on Friday night

 In the 2 pm incident, all five male victims, aged 20, were pronounced dead at the scene after the MPV they were travelling in collided with a trailer lorry. - Bernama
