Form Four student claims trial to raping schoolmate


SEREMBAN: A male Form Four student claimed trial at the Juvenile Court here to a charge of raping a Form Two schoolmate in a classroom.

The 16-year-old accused pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him before Magistrate Saiful Sayoti during proceedings held behind closed doors on Friday (Aug 29).

The accused was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code with committing the offence at 7.20am on May 2.

Adult offenders can be jailed between five and 20 years and caned upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor P Rubini offered bail of RM7,000 with one surety.

She also asked the court to order that the accused stay away from the victim and prosecution witnesses.

The accused, who was unrepresented, pleaded for lower bail.

He told the court that his father, a retired army personnel, was present in court to post bail.

Magistrate Saiful allowed bail of RM4,000 with one surety.

He also allowed the other application by the prosecution.

The court then fixed Nov 5 for mention.
