Family seeks recognition of Zara’s mother as person of interest in inquest

KOTA KINABALU - The Coroner's Court in Kota Kinabalu will hear an application from the late Zara Qairina Mahathir's family lawyer to recognise Noraidah Lamat as her mother and a person of interest in the inquest proceedings scheduled to begin on September 3.

The legal team, led by Hamid Ismail, stated that the application was filed on Aug 19 at the Coroner's Court.

In the application, Noraidah, through the legal team, was allowed to be involved in the inquest proceedings to examine and cross-examine witnesses, view documents, suggest and bring additional witnesses and documents to assist the coroner.

In addition, they also requested copies of relevant documents from the Attorney General's Office before the proceedings began.
