Final-year medical student falls from seventh floor of Melaka apartment

MELAKA: A 24-year-old final-year medical student is fighting for his life after falling from the seventh floor of a service apartment on Jalan Tun Perak here.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the incident occurred at about 10.40pm on Monday (Aug 25).

The student, from Shah Alam, Selangor, landed on the verandah of the fifth floor after the fall.

“Preliminary investigations showed the student was not a victim of bullying,” he said on Tuesday (August 26).

ACP Christopher said this was the second time the student had attempted suicide, with the first reported in 2023 when he was staying in Muar, Johor.

He added that the student is in critical condition, receiving treatment at Hospital Melaka for severe traumatic brain injury and intracranial haemorrhage.
