Cops nab two for street racing in Iskandar Puteri

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police arrested two motorists believed to be involved in gangsterism and street racing during an operation here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the operation was carried out along the Medini Utama Highway in the early morning on Sunday (Aug 24).

“The operation was conducted after the location was identified as a hotspot for owners of modified cars to gather and engage in dangerous activities such as illegal racing," he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 25).

“Two male drivers aged 22 and 25 were detained. Both are being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“Two modified cars were also seized under Section 64 of the same Act,” he added.

ACP Kumarasan stressed that no compromise would be made with those involved in gangsterism or illegal racing.

“Such activities clearly endanger not only the offenders themselves but also other road users.

“Similar operations will be conducted continuously to curb illegal racing and ensure public safety in Iskandar Puteri,” he added.
