Cops remind participants of Zara solidarity rally in KL to adhere to all instructions

KUALA LUMPUR: Participants of the "Himpunan Demi Zara Qairina" outside the Sogo shopping complex tonight are advised to adhere to all instructions given by authorities.

The event, scheduled to begin at 8pm, will be monitored closely by the Dang Wangi police to ensure it proceeds smoothly.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the police will facilitate the assembly while reminding participants not to take advantage of the situation to commit any unlawful acts.

"We will facilitate the movement of participants, but no party should attempt to cause disruption or violate the law,” he said when contacted on Friday (Aug 15).

“We will not hesitate to take immediate action against anyone found to be provoking unrest or disturbing public order. We will not compromise on this matter,” he added.

To maintain order, a total of 40 police officers and personnel will be deployed for the duration of the gathering.

At present, police have no plans to close or divert traffic in the area, although this may change depending on the situation on the ground.
