PETALING JAYA: Foreign beggars found abusing their entry passes have been caught by the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).
The agency said three foreigners, two Algerians and an Iraqi national, were arrested after being found begging outside the departure hall of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal One on Tuesday (Aug 12).
“The arrest was made during an operation to monitor 'KLIA touts' that was conducted by the AKPS and airport security from 8.30am to 10.30am.
“Their actions not only go against the terms to entry the country but have also affected the image of the country and cause unease for airport users,” it In a statement on Tuesday.
The AKPS added that all have been handed over to the Immigration Department for further action.
In an unrelated matter 40 Bangladeshi nationals were issued Not To Land (NTL) orders during an operation on the same day.
“They were part of the 134 foreigners that were inspected after two flights landed from Dhaka between 1am and 6am.
“The order was issued due to checks on travel documents, intent of entry and return tickets showing suspicious behavior.
The agency said all have been sent home within 24 hours.
The statement added that there had been an increase of 20% of NTL orders issued between May and July, from 900 to 1,134.
