Melaka mechanic remanded for allegedly raping, beating children

MELAKA: A 41-year-old mechanic’s decade of sexually assaulting his eldest daughter since she was eight has been brought to light last Friday (Aug 1).

The victim, now 18, had broken down and told her mother, 41, about her ordeal at their home near here, according to a police source.

The suspect has been remanded to assist in investigations until August 11 under Section 376B of the Penal Code.

The victim, who works as a salesperson, had kept the abuse hidden for years for fear of her father beating her for speaking out. He also threatened to harm her siblings if she told anyone.

It is also alleged that the suspect had sexually abused his younger children.

The eldest child’s trauma was exposed last Friday, when her homemaker mother informed her that the suspect had stopped providing money for their children’s needs.

In response, the mother said that she was forced to leave the house with their five other children.

That was when the victim burst into tears and revealed the years of abuse by her father.

On Saturday night, while the mother was hurriedly packing to flee with her younger children, the suspect had allegedly raped the victim again inside their home.

On Sunday, the mother fled with all six children to Kuala Lumpur with the help of her brother.

She then lodged a police report on the same day at Tiang Dua police station here.

In her report, the mother claimed that her husband would often beat their children, sometimes leaving them badly injured. She claimed she had not reported the abuse for fear of being beaten by the suspect.

Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar confirmed the report.
