Cop stabbed during Pasar Pudu crime prevention rounds, suspect nabbed


KUALA LUMPUR: A police personnel was stabbed in the stomach during a crime prevention round at Pasar Pudu.

Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said the incident occurred at about 12.55pm on Thursday (July 31).

"The victim along with four other police personnel were checking a male suspect when he stabbed the policeman using a knife before escaping.

"The policeman was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Acting on credible intelligence, DCP Mohamed Usuf said a 56-year-old man was detained in connection with the incident.

"Several items were seized including a 21.5cm knife, three transparent plastic packets filled with substances believed to be drugs," he said.

He said the police will apply for a remand order on the suspect on Friday (Aug 1).
