JOHOR BARU: Efforts are underway to address employees’ concerns and maintain essential transport services following a strike by a number of its drivers, says Causeway Link, a major provider of cross-border bus transportation between Johor Baru and Singapore.
In a statement on Tuesday (July 22), the company acknowledged that several bus captains had chosen to initiate industrial action and affirmed its commitment to open communication and a respectful working environment for all employees.
"We understand the vital role our bus captains play in delivering safe and reliable public transport services to the community. We want to reassure the public and our passengers that we are actively engaging with the relevant parties to address the situation and reach a constructive resolution,” the company said.
Causeway Link said it is taking all possible steps to minimise service disruptions, particularly on essential routes, and expressed hope that a fair and beneficial resolution can be achieved for all parties through continued dialogue.
"We deeply regret any inconvenience caused to our passengers and appreciate your understanding during this time,” it added.
On Monday (July 21), a video went viral on social media showing the chaos at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI), believed to be caused by disruptions to bus services following the strike.
An investigation by the Labour Department revealed that the strike was triggered by unexplained salary deductions, allegations of unpaid overtime, and the termination of the employees' Special Duty Allowance without notice. – Bernama
