Father of Zayn Rayyan among five witnesses to be called in mother's defence trial


PETALING JAYA: Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, the father of autistic child Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin, will be among the five witness to be called in the defence of his wife Ismanira Abdul Manaf's neglect trial.

"The Sessions Court has acquitted Zaim of the charge but Ismanira has been ordered by the Sessions Court to enter her defence.

The case has been postponed until 2pm," lawyer Haresh Mahadevan told the press here on Monday (July 21).

Sessions Court judge Dr Syahliza Warnoh made the order earlier on Tuesday after evaluating the evidence and exhibits in the case.

Zayn Rayyan was found dead near a stream two years ago.

Zaim Ikhwan and Ismanira, both aged 30, were charged with neglecting Zayn Rayyan in a manner likely to cause physical harm to the victim in the vicinity of Block R, Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai up to the nearby river area between noon on Dec 5 and 9.55pm on Dec 6, 2023.
