IPOH: Two people were killed in an accident involving a four-wheel drive and a lorry transporting fertiliser along the North-South Expressway near Kuala Kangsar.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the two men were identified as Tan Wei Lee, 25, who was driving the four-wheel drive, and his passenger Neoh Kar Lok, 22.
“When firemen arrived at the scene, they found the two victims trapped inside the vehicle.
“Both of them were confirmed dead at the scene by a medical team,” he said in a statement.
In a separate incident, he said a 68-year-old woman with a mental disability was rescued after she fell into an abandoned well behind her house in Tanjung Rambutan.
He said they received a distress call at 8.40am yesterday and a team from the Tambun fire station was deployed to the location.
“Upon arrival, they found the woman had fallen into a 3m-deep uncovered well, which was about one metre in diameter.
“She was secured in a harness and strapped onto a stretcher before being pulled up to safety,” he said.
