Collision near Kuala Kangsar claims two lives

IPOH: Two men were killed after the four-wheel drive they were in collided with the back of a lorry at KM253 southbound of the North-South Expressway near Kuala Kangsar.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said both the 25-year-old driver and the 22-year-old passenger were trapped inside the vehicle.

He said the department received a distress call regarding the incident at 5.51am on Wednesday (July 2).

“The vehicle the two were in crashed into the back of the lorry transporting fertiliser.

“Both of them were confirmed dead at the scene by the medical team,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the operations commander conducted a size-up, instructing personnel to carry out rescue operations using a hydraulic cutter to cut parts of the vehicle.

“The bodies were then handed over to the police for further action,” he added.
