Putra Heights pipeline fire report to be released tomorrow

SEKINCHAN: The report on the investigation into the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire in Subang Jaya will be made public tomorrow, says Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the report, completed as scheduled on Friday, was initially set to be presented that day but was postponed due to the public holiday.

“It was ready, but we couldn’t present it as it was a public holiday. So, it’s better to do it this Monday.

“We will announce it after presenting it to the Cabinet, as required by procedure,” he said after launching the phase one development of the Sekinchan Marine Produce Landing Complex yesterday.

Earlier, the Selangor Mentri Besar’s Office said in a statement that the technical investigation had been completed, Bernama reported.

The blaze and explosion, which occurred on April 1, destroyed 81 homes with over 40% structural damage, partially damaged another 81 and affected 57 others without burning.

A total of 218 houses, including those in Kampung Tengah, Puchong, were unaffected.

Amirudin also launched the first phase of the RM500mil Selangor Integrated Landing Port (SILP) project aimed at bolstering the state’s fisheries sector and enhancing food security.

Construction is expected to begin by the end of 2026 and will include a centralised jetty, 30 to 40 boat parking bays and serviced apartments.

“Subsequent phases will include facilities for boat repairs, maintenance and construction, followed by the development of tourism zones,” said Amirudin.

He said the project, along with other planned agricultural developments like prawn farms in Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor, is expected to increase the state’s agricultural output by 5%.

Spanning 33.9ha, the first phase of the SILP project will also include a fish auction hall, a commercial fish market, a tide-adaptive dock, a logistics hub for seafood distribution and maritime services, as well as shoreline upgrades.

SILP is also a key component of the Sabak Bernam Development Area, a regional initiative under the First Selangor Plan.
