Temple and 21 homes damaged in Perak fire

IPOH: A pre-dawn fire destroyed 21 houses at Bagan Pasir Laut in Hutan Melintang on Saturday (June 28).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said an eatery and a temple were also burned during the 4.50am incident.

"The initial information we received was that five houses were on fire.

"The fire spread due to the proximity of the buildings and low water pressure from the fire hydrants.

"The Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Department and the Sungai Tiang voluntary firemen aided the Hutan Melintang firemen during the operation," he said in a statement.

Sabarodzi said the fire was brought under control at about 7.30am.

"The firefighting operation is still ongoing. The extent of the damages is still being evaluated," he added.
