BN to contest under own logo in Sabah polls, says Zahid

KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional will contest the Sabah Election using its own logo but is leaving the door open to cooperation with other political parties, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Barisan chairman said negotiations with other parties and coalitions are ongoing and were positive so far.

"We have not finalised seat sharing or seat clashes but what is important is to have an open mind because we want to have more friends than enemies," he said during a press conference on Tuesday (June 24).

He did not comment when asked if Tanjung Batu assemblyman Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy would be allowed to contest after his membership was suspended.

The Kalabakan MP is one of two Barisan leaders suspended for opposing the party's decision to withdraw support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in January 2023.

He is reportedly implicated in connection with the Sabah mining corruption scandal.
